Future Lingo Typeface
The Objective
Future Lingo is a typeface derived from my own creativity and skillset. We also had the opportunity to design an original and imaginative poster that showcases the typeface and serves as an example of how it could be used.
The Solution
I was inspired to create Future Lingo since the last typeface I made had elements I thought could work well with a cyberpunk aesthetic, so I developed Future Lingo using my previous typeface as inspiration and my enjoyment of futuristic styles in media. This typeface was primarily created to be used in pop culture related media with a focus on city settings but could be adapted to other settings if appropriate like ancient scriptures.
The Process
Below you can see see some of the process that went into creating Future Lingo.
The Inspiration
Before developing Future Lingo I had a previous class where we developed a typeface inspired by a city of our choosing in terms of both structures and cultural background. I chose Tokyo because the technologically advanced compact blocky buildings mixing with ancient temples and mansions coexisting with one another intrigued me. I saw potential in using these elements in a cyberpunk typeface so when I got the chance to make one I took it.
Mockup Experimentation
These are some of the mockups I experimented with when developing my typeface to help me envision how I pictured “Future Lingo” being used. I would regularly go back to these mockups to update my designs to see which ones looked best.
