Designer In Progress
Designer Statement
I got into the design field because I grew up drawing, making posters, designing my school’s senior hoodies and developing comic books. People kept telling me that I should pursue a career in graphic design after noticing how I like spending my time. After doing my research about what graphic design entails, I realized that I had an interest in telling stories through design work, which encouraged me to commit to learning the trade. I realized that graphic design was a whole lot more technical and business oriented than what I expected. I found myself learning about layouts for text and websites, brand standards, professional meetings, mockups, printing, typography, color theory, AI and a whole bunch of technical software mechanics. I would soon become fascinated with real world design whenever I got a chance to learn about it in person.
Being creative and learning new things that are relevant to my career and personal interests is a driving factor as to why I am still pursuing the design field. I am looking to find ways to tell stories through my work as a professional and outside of that. I’m still relatively new to the field of design and have yet to experience many things it has to offer, but I am looking forward to these new experiences and opportunities to learn and improve my craft.
