Gamer Box Drop
The Objective
This was a semester long project for my university’s Integrated Production Techniques class in which we were given the opportunity to create a kit that has brand along with packaging, booklets, products, and other miscellaneous if appropriate.
The Solution
For my project, I aimed to target the gamer demographic. My brand’s name was Gamer Drop Box which was designed to be a subscription service that produced unique monthly care packages that catered towards the interests of gamers. For this project I decided to focus on gamers that enjoy military inspired video games. I designed and developed logos, two booklets, covers for snack pouches that were inspired by military MREs, and the wearable merchandise designs to make the kit feel like a supply drop from an action video game. I carefully considered what designs felt appropriate to make it feel uniform. Finally, to put everything together I outsourced the ammo can I wanted as the carrying package and had my product’s logo laser engraved onto it as the final touch.
The Process
Below you can see see some of the process work that went into creating Gamer Box Drop.
SREs
This is a play on the actual military’s MREs which stands for “Meal Ready-to-Eat.” Since I was going to include snacks in pouches I replaced came up with SRE or “Snack Ready-to-Eat” and based my design for the pouch off of some MREs but reworded everything and placed my own spin on things.
Booklet
I based my booklet off of the hand manuals for military assault rifles to better the immersion of the theme for the target audience. One of the booklets was a promotion for a future collaboration drop as a concept work for the video game Cyberpunk 2077. Feel free to take a look at the the main booklet I designed for this project.
